Potter takes title in last leg thriller

Rising star Nathan Potter recovered from a first group game defeat to take the 2024 Suffolk Super Series title beating fellow Suffolk County player Stefan Morling in a last leg decider 6-5.

Nathan who won event 1 of this years comp came through probably the toughest group we have ever seen at finals day including Kevin Edwards, Gary Butcher and JJ Wright, Stefan had it no easier coming through a group which included Wayne Bugby, Frankie Ansell and Graham Peck. Nathan made steady progress to the semi finals beating reigning Champion Jason Elvin and Wayne Bugby without dropping a leg, Stefan also made rapid progress to the semis dropping just 1 leg in each match while dispatching Chris Denny and JJ Wright. The semi finals proved to be much harder with Stefan overcoming an in form Martyn Moore 5-2 and Nathan coming through a last leg decider to beat Rob Butters 5-4.

The final was everything we could have asked for after a long season travelling Suffolk to pick up points, a real ding dong battle would see Stefan making the early running leading 3-0 and and 4-2 before Nathan really dug in to win 4 legs on the trot to lead 5-4 for the first time in the match, the 10th leg was a testament to Stefans character on the oche as he held his nerve to take us to a decider, with so much on 1 leg the players still scored heavily but it was heartbreak for Stefan as 3 missed darts at a double proved costly as Nathan hit the winning double to take the title of Suffolk Super Series Champion 2024

Henry a cut above the rest

Henry Cutting stormed through a stellar field to take the honours at the final Suffolk Super Series of 2024 beating Series debutant John Guy in the final to take his first win of this years event, but the big action came in the fight for points to get into the top 32 for finals night. With some players choosing to miss the final event and some awesome performances from the likes of Lauryn Salter and Gary Butcher both making the semis and good runs by a number of players it was all change in the top 32.

    Ipswich Bears Grand Slam

Kevin Edwards takes another win in Ipswich

2nd win of this years Super Series for Kevin Edwards playing some quality games and taking out some major players, only dropping 3 legs throughout the knockout stages. Kevin made his way through a who's who of Suffolk darts to set up a final with the fast improving JJ Wright. JJ has won a few big comps this year and must of fancied his chances in his first Super Series final, but after racing into a 2-0 lead Kevin stepped on the gas and showed his class to run out a 5-2 winner.

Unstoppable Jack makes it 2 in a row

Jack Main was again in top form for event 5 dropping just 1 leg in the K.O stages to make it to the final, some awesome finishing punishing a high scoring Ash Ling in a superb semi final win. In the final Jack would play Super Series debutant and goof friend Tyler Thorpe, Tyler has been in spectacular form recently picking up local titles and a recent win at the Stowmarket GP series, Tylers route to the final was not easy at all taking out a number of county stars and a great win in the semi finals against Stow GP reigning champion Henry Cutting, with friendly bragging rights at stake in the final it didn't disappoint with both guys scoring heavily throughout jack showing his experience to take the title 5-3 and now moves top of the Super Series table

Jack the Main man in Stowmarket

Jack Main proved to be just to good for the rest at Event 3 beating a host of big names in the K.O stages including Ash Ling, Josh Church and England International Jo Locke to set up a semi final clash with Ash Coleman, in the other half of the draw Jamie Robinson was showing some real form beating Paul Elvin, Paul Woods  and Superleague team mate Mark Gutteridge to reach the semi finals where he faced Adam Howard, unfortunately it proved a step to far for Adam going down 4-0 to a power scoring Robinson, he would be joined in the final by Jack who beat an always consistent Ash Coleman 4-2 in the other Semi, the final didn't disappoint with with the players trading legs to go 3 each before jack moved into another gear to take 2 legs in a row and the match 5-3 to take his first Super Series title

O'Neill takes maiden title at the barns

Darren O'Neill confidently predicted he would win the whole thing as he entered the building on Saturday and the Essex superstar definitely backed up his words beating a who's who of the Suffolk darts scene to reach his first final of the year, wins over Super Series champion Jason Elvin, Josh Church and Ian Plumb would set up a tough semi final with the in form Paul Woods, Woods making his Super Series debut pushed Darren all the way in a close 4-3. Waiting for Darren in the final was Norfolks Jack Main who himself came through a tough half beating event 1 winner Nathan Potter in the first round before wins over Ollie Howard, Neil Davey and James Wilkinson to reach his first final, the final as expected was a close thought battle going all the way to a final leg decider, Darren hitting the big numbers early in the leg and never gave up that advantage to take his maiden title 5-4

    Edwards beats Moore in thriller

Awesome first visit to Sizewell Social Club for event 2 of the Super Series, the standard seems to improve with every comp. with some of the toughest groups we have seen to date, the last 32 sore some top names drop out early, in the round of 16 stand out games would see Frankie Ansell beating PDC tour card holder Ryan Meikle 3-2 and Kevin Edwards taking out Event 1 winner Nathan Potter 3-1, into the quarter finals and Frankie continued his good form to beat Jack Main 4-3 to set up a semi final with Martin Moore who was showing excellent form beating John Attwater and Ollie Hammond without dropping a leg, in the other half Kevin Edwards beat the in form Jake Fewell and the always dangerous Jamie Robinson to set up a semi final with Suffolk star Jordan Gissing, who beat 3 fellow Suffolk players in Lee Morling, Jason Elvin and Kyle Bloomfield, before losing the semi final to Kevin in a last leg decider, Kevin would be joined in the final by an inspired Martin Moore who finally brought Frankies day to an end with a 4-1 victory.

Into the final and what a final it was, both players trading multiple 180s and ton plus finishes to take us all the way to the 9th leg, with Kevin Edwards hitting the winning double to take event 2 in what will go down as a Suffolk Super Series classic

Potter works his magic at Wherry

Nathan 'The Wizard' Potter was in fantastic form for the opening event of 2024, after winning 3 out of 4 of his group games only losing to the in form Dan Cornish, Nathan would see off Jason Thompson and Essex county star Darren O'Neill both 3-1 to set up a quarter final clash with Josh Church, a power scoring match would see Nathans finishing being the difference to seal a 4-0 victory, next up was Suffolk youngster Luke Simmons making his first semi final in an Evolution Darts event taking some major scalps on the way, unfortunately for Luke Nathan was in no mood to hang around and made the final with a comprehensive 4-0 victory. In the final Nathan would play Burys own Ian Plumb who came through probably the group of the day topping it with 3 wins from 4 games, in the last 32 he faced Owen Howard, the youngster winning our first 9 dart shootout of 2024 after hitting 180 with his first 3 darts, Ians experience seeing him through 3-0, it got no easier from there as he beat multi title winning Kevin Edwards 3-2 and Suffolk veteran Wayne Squirrell 4-2 to set up a semi final clash with 2023 overall Champion Jason Elvin, with Jason scoring heavily early on Ian hung in and some clinical finishing seeing him progress 4-2

The final proved to be 1 step to far for Ian as Nathan powered into a commanding 4-0 lead before Ian took the 5th leg, this was only a small reprieve as Nathan sealed the win and his first Suffolk Super Series win 5-1
